A string of heated protests in Toronto\u00a0have led the National Energy Board to postpone hearings into\u00a0proposed changes to\u00a0a key\u00a0oil\u00a0pipeline running from Sarnia, Ont., to Montreal.<\/p>\n

Energy giant Enbridge was scheduled to defend its plan to reverse the flow of a portion of its Line 9 pipeline at an NEB\u00a0hearing in Toronto on Saturday.<\/p>\n

However,\u00a0after protesters stormed the proceedings at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre on Friday,\u00a0\u00a0the NEB issued a news release stating the hearings would be postponed.<\/p>\n

“The end of today\u2019s hearing raised concerns with\u00a0respect to the security of participants,” NEB secretary Sheri Young wrote in the Friday statement.<\/p>\n
